In Brisbane we were able to catch up with Ness, AJ and Rebekah. They were very hospitable and let us stay in their house (even after they left for a holiday).
We took the opportunity to explore the first major city we had been in for quite a few months. We took in the sites of Brisbane by taking a ride on the ferris wheel.
We were also able to catch up with some friends that we made while we were at Iris Harvest School back in 2011, Stirling, Jax and Shannon.
We spent 3 nights on Fraser. It is the largest sand island in the world. We were surprised to find rain forest and inland lakes scattered around the place.
Driving was fun as the main highway along the island consisted of driving up and down 70 Mile Beach at low tide. On the last day, on our way back to the barge, we managed to get the car and trailer VERY bogged. After a bit of a scramble we managed to get unstuck and back to the barge in time to get back to the mainland.
We spent a couple of nights in Bundaberg. During our stay we went and visited the Bundaberg rum distillery which was quite interesting (Zoe thought it smelt bad!).
We still don't really know how to say the name of this place, we think it is something like 'Yungala' but even still we are glad we visited. We camped at the top of a mountain. As the afternoon progressed we watched a rain storm blow in towards us, once it came through we spent the rest of the night camped envelloped in the clouds.
The following morning we went Forest Flying which consisted of 'flying' through the rain forest on a huge flying fox.
We also saw our first platypus in the wild!
We stopped in at Townsville for a couple of nights. The highlight was a visit to ReefHQ, a biq aquarium and turtle hospital.
We left Cairns with absolutely no idea where our next stop would be. We just headed south and hoped something would present itself. It did in the form of an old Spanish castle at a place called Paronella Park. It was set up by a rich Spanish man and is now a tourist attraction.
On the way we stopped in at a few natural attractions including a water fall which doubled as a slide!
We are a family who are just seeking to do what God wants us to do. We have heard God speak and we want to be obedient to his voice, and are excited by what He is going to do when we respond!
